In today’s consumer electronics, we have so many different cell phones to choose from. There are plenty of different carriers, phone brands, models, and operating systems on the market. Cell phones can process so much more today than they could just 10 years ago. Today, they offer calendars, internet, gps, email, games, organizers, and oh yea, they make and receive phone calls too.
With so many different cell phones to choose from two smartphone operating systems stand out from the rest. The iPhone needs little introduction. It has been around for years and was one of the first true innovative smartphones on the market. For some years, iPhone was the only all-in-one touch screen package and, at the time, exclusively offered by AT&T. Apple held on to the smartphone market for as long as they could. Until their worst nightmares, known as the “iPhone killer” surfaced.
Who is the iPhone killer? –(insert robotic voice) Droid– The Android OS is taking the market by storm! Developed by the search engine gods Google, the Android OS has so much to offer and some! With the release of the Android OS, smartphones in my opinion have just experienced a revolution in innovative technology and design.
I’m sure you can see where I am going with this. The Android OS is in my opinion, a far more superior operating system than the Apple IOS. Why? Because it simply just is! I mean, take into account everything the Android OS offers:
- Cross-platform (works on multiple devices) including tablets
- Light-weight, super-fast, and powerful
- Tons of community support from developers
- Largest selection of FREE apps on the Android Market
- Sleek user interface and so much more!
Now, my opinion isn’t completely bias. I have used plenty of iPhones in the past. In fact, I even owned one at some point or another. But, to be completely honest, it wasn’t perfect for me and for some reason I wasn’t completely content. I liked that it was sleek and modern in design, but the operating system and its limitations just ruined it for me. The fact that I have to pretty much marry Apple, shop on their store, buy from their developers, use it only with iTunes?!
So which phone do we choose? It’s pretty obvious, get an Android-based smartphone. The Android OS offers way much more in terms of functionality, practicality, and open-source development. It’s simple, buy an Android smartphone or tablet; a no regrets solution to all of your mobile technology needs.
