10 Easy Steps to Remove Spyware

Most spyware and malware infections your pc may become infected with are more of the inconvenience type rather than a true boot sector virus. These simple infections can be removed using free tools in just a few simple steps. I am going to show you how to remove the more common malware and spyware infections below without having to spend money on a computer technician just yet.

Before I begin, please note that you are preforming these actions at your own risk. We are not responsible for what happens during or after the course of this tutorial. If you feel un-easy continuing, please contact a computer repair company.

Step one – If you’re experiencing false alarm pop-ups as seen in most of these rogue spyware infections, you need to boot your computer into safe mode. You can do this by shutting down your computer completely. Then press the power button on your computer, immediately start tapping the F8 key on your keyboard until you are prompted with a screen to continue. Select SAFE MODE to continue.

Step two – Now that you have booted your computer in safe mode, you should not be experiencing any more pop-ups. That’s because, most of these simple infections create a file that launches with normal startup. You will need another computer to continue forward with this tutorial. On another computer, please download the following program Malware Bytes – malware and spyware removal tool found in our download center of our blog. While there, also download CCleaner.

Step three – Now that you have downloaded both programs we need to transport the installer files to our infected computer. To do this, we will need a flash drive aka memory stick. The size we need is at least 512MB – they aren’t very expensive, if you don’t have one go pick one up at any electronics store for under $15.

Step four – Plug in the flash drive into the computer, launch my computer (computer) and open the flash drive (f :) may have a different drive letter. This is not hard to figure out. Now either copy or paste the installer files into the flash drive or manually click and drag the files into the flash drive.

Step five - Now that we have copied the installer files into the flash drive, unplug the flash drive and plug it into the infected computer. Again, launch my computer (computer) and double-click to open the flash drive.

Step six – Beginning with Malware Bytes – mbam.exe, double-click to launch the installer and follow the on-screen instructions to install Malware Bytes onto your computer. Do the same with CCleaner – double-click the installer to launch the install application and follow the on-screen instructions to install CCleaner onto your computer.

Step seven – Once you have installed both applications, now launch the Malware Bytes application. The shortcut should be on your desktop. Run a FULL scan on your computer. This can take 30 minutes to 2 hours. Let it run completely without interruption.

Step eight – Once it has finished its scan, it will pop-up with its results. At the bottom right, click remove selected to remove any infected files that Malware Bytes found. It may ask you to restart your computer, choose the option to restart later.

Step nine – Launch CCleaner and click (Run Cleaner) – you may be asked if it is ok to delete cookies – click YES to continue. When CCleaner is finished run the cleaner a second time just to make sure it didn’t miss anything. If you are curious to know what its cleaning, see items the left pane of the application. Now select the (Registry) icon. Click scan for issues. When it is done select

(FIX SELECTED ISSUES) and select either yes / no to make a backup of your registry – I’ll leave this one up to you – I always select NO but I like to sometimes live dangerously. Now select (FIX SELECTED ISSUES) and you’re done.

Step ten – restart your computer and let it boot normally. See if the infections are gone. To be safe, I would run the above again.
